Genitofemoral Neuralgia

What is genitofemoral neuralgia?
Genitofemoral neuralgia is a painful disorder of the genitofemoral nerve due to damage and/or loss of function in this nerve.

Cause
Genitofemoral neuralgia can have many causes, the most common being
damage as a result of abdominal surgery, such as
caesarian section,
hernial repair surgery,
appendix surgery and
pelvic surgery.

Signs and symptoms
The symptoms in genitofemoral neuralgia usually consist of an unpleasant painful sensation in the lower abdomen and the genitals. Patients complain of severe burning and stabbing pain.
